(the setting for one of my favorite tv shows, Monarch of the Glen)
One of the things I miss most about living in Paris has nothing to do with Paris at all. It was the easy access to so many great places and not just in Europe but parts of Africa and the Middle East too. We managed to see a lot but we couldn’t get everywhere – I think I’d need many more years for that – and one of the places I really wish we had had time for is Scotland. The Highlands, the Hebrides, castles and glens . . . it’s all so romantic to me.
When I do get there, one of the places I’d love to stay is the Jura Lodge. I love the color combination in this sitting room:

The pale blue walls, dark floors, a pop of purple with lots of black. And what about the light fixtures, the black door, the molding and that drum?!

I love the cabinets and chairs in the kitchen, too. The whole place is slightly over the top but in the best way.

Thanks for stopping by and for your comment!
I’m glad that you liked my blog!
Yours is great!
That castle, oh that castle! Stunning!
My parents are from Europe & I always loved going there to visit our relatives. There were so many beautiful places to see! Your post brought back a lot of happy memories on this rainy Thursday!
Your pictures literally make me ache to do some traveling abroad. It’s been 8 years… *Need* to go back!
I got into “Monarch of the Glen” last year when I rented season one from my library. Fell in love with it right away. What a gorgeous setting! I’d love to go to Scotland someday.
ummmm, wow. i need to get out of the U.S. like today.
beautiful. I would love to walk through that field for hours.
It’s funny, we seem to like the same things. I haven’t been on Jura, but two years ago we went to Arran and Islay and stayed at a nice castle for a night. Every unusual experience makes your life more joyable.
One of these days, we’ll bump into each other somewhere, I’m sure!
Ok, my sunroom is in need of a serious overhaul. Holy inspiration pics!!
lovely
Great..great photos. Has me craving any one of those sun porches. Really brings back my youth too. Happy thoughts!!
Am I ever grateful that you turned me on to the Jura Inn! My husband is from Aberdeen & next time we get back there in Scotland, I am hunting down that beautiful place. Like you said; the drum table & crown light fixtures are unreal. I keep trying to talk Graham into moving back, but the sun does not shine there enough for him. D :
Lovely post!
Moving back? To Scotland or Seattle?
If you do stay there, you must report back! Or take me with you. Your choice.
I LOOOOVE Monarch of the glen, and big part of it is that beautiful place, the building and the gorgeous nature. Scotland is one of my favorite dream holiday destinations, someday I hope to go there!
